The UPAC Cultural Food Pantry serves underserved families in City Heights and nearby areas by recognizing and respecting their unique cultural backgrounds. Thanks to the SDG&E grant, UPAC NEC has been able to combat hunger and promote food and health equity effectively. Families receive essential food items, fresh produce, culturally relevant foods, as well as herbs and spices. Moreover, the grant has facilitated job opportunities for our youth staff, who are part of the same diverse immigrant and refugee population we serve. Many of these young individuals come from low-income backgrounds or are at-risk youth in need of support. By creating employment opportunities, the grant empowers youth in City Heights to become leaders within their community. We extend our gratitude to SDG&E and the San Diego Foundation for their support, which has enabled the Cultural Food Pantry to make a positive impact in our community.
